Katarzina Kotula, Minister of Equality, said on the TVN24 channel that the National Council of this party will decide on December 15 who will be the candidate of the left in the presidential elections.
The Left is the last major political party that has yet to announce its candidate for next year's presidential election. – The leftists said from the very beginning that we will announce this candidate in December. And so it is, December 15. This decision will be taken by the National Council of the Party, said Equality Minister Katarzina Kotula in “Facti po factach”.
– Now we will talk about the results of the conducted research and who is the best candidate. We were investigating specific people who can be candidates in this presidential election, he added.
When asked about specific names, she declined to reveal them. – I was one of those people (as a potential candidate – ed.), although I don't hide it and I said here, in your place, – I wanted to pay attention to what I do. The equal treatment department in the prime minister's office is a big challenge, he said.
Presidential election 2025
Presidential elections will be held in May 2025. According to the announcement of the Speaker of the Seimas, the election campaign should start in January. At the same time, the following have expressed their desire to be nominated: the mayor of Warsaw, the candidate of KO Rafal Trzaskowski, the president of the Institute of National Remembrance, the candidate of PiS Karol Nawrotsky, the chairman of the Sejm, one of the leaders of “Third Way”. Shimon Holonia, co-chairman of the Confederation Slawomir Mentzen and deputy Marek Jakubiak (Free Republicans).
President Andrzej Duda's mandate will expire in August 2025.
