Central Anti-Corruption Bureau officials have arrested another person on charges of fake donations for religious purposes. A month ago, the court arrested a parish priest who served in churches affected by charity. In this case, 25 people were charged with 194 charges.
As reported by the Central Anti-corruption Bureau, on January 8, 2025, employees of the Lodz branch of CBA arrested a person in Pruszków district.
“The results of the investigation show that the arrested person allegedly provided the donors with unreliable documents confirming their donation for religious purposes or charity and care activities. Thanks to this, they can reduce the income tax on the amount of the donation when submitting tax returns,” – reported. gives CBA.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Płock district charged the arrested person with facilitating the crime of defrauding the public treasury of tax reduction in the total amount of about PLN 1.4 million. The prosecutor imposed preventive measures against the suspect in the form of bail in the amount of PLN 50,000. PLN and police control.

“The execution is related to the investigation of the CBA on the presentation of lies in the tax returns by individuals and legal entities in the years 2019-2024. The written confirmation about the receipt of fake donations was given by the then priest of one of the churches in Plock. This is the only person to whom such a request was submitted in the case, – said Bartosz Malyshevskiy, the spokesman of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Plok district. He added that during the interrogation, the priest, who, according to the Financial Criminal Code, which covered the entire period of practice since 2018, confessed to the alleged acts and gave a very extensive explanation.
As for the remaining 12 suspects, as prosecutor Malyshevski noted, “some of them gave explanations without admitting the actions of the accused, and some refused to give explanations.”
194 charges against 25 people
Now the CBA reports that the latest arrest in the Prushkov district is “the second procedural execution in the preparatory proceedings”.
“So far, during the investigation, a total of 194 charges have been filed against 25 people. More than 7 million PLN have been seized from the assets of the suspects. The suspects involved in the investigation are constantly making corrections to their tax returns. Tax offices and return of income tax along with interest,” explains CBA.
