The Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (HUR) news agency reported that at least 30 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured in attacks in Russia's western Kursk region in the past two days alone. Ukrainian troops have been stationed in Kursk Oblast since August.
“On December 14 and 15, 2024, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe villages of Prekhovo, Volozhva and Martynovka in the Kursk region, located on the territory of the aggressor country Russia, the North Korean army suffered significant losses. At least 30 soldiers. '', the press release states.
At least three North Korean soldiers are also reported missing near the village of Krylovka.

“Following the losses, the assault forces are being replenished with new personnel, especially from the 94th Independent Brigade of the North Korean Army, in order to continue active hostilities in the Kursk region,” HUR wrote.
North Korean soldiers aid Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced in early November that 11,000 people would be stationed there. North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk Oblast, which borders Ukraine.
At the end of November, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Counter-Disinformation Center of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, announced the deployment of North Korean troops to the Belgorod region.

Earlier, CNN reported, citing Ukrainian security officials, that they were present in Russian-occupied Mariupol. They are described as “technical advisors” and the purpose of their visit is unknown.
North Korean troops were also spotted in the Kharkiv region.
In late November, Ukraine's military intelligence assessed that the participation of North Korean forces in the war on Russia's side would pose a threat to Ukraine, South Korea, and Japan. The reason for this is that “some North Korean military personnel will die in Ukraine, and others will also die.” They could return to prepare for modern combat operations and serve as instructors in North Korea's 1.5 million-strong military.
