Ukrainian intelligence reported that there was an explosion and a Russian officer was seriously injured. He is in critical condition. The man is believed to have led the attack that killed 59 Ukrainian civilians.
According to information from the Military Intelligence Service of Ukraine (HUR), Captain Konstantin Vladimirovich Nagaiko was seriously injured in an explosion that occurred in the town of Shuya in Russia’s Ivanovo region on January 3.
The 29-year-old officer is a battery commander in the 112th Missile Brigade of the 1st Tank Army in Russia’s Western Military District.
HUR emphasizes that the man is in serious condition. After the explosion, he suffered numerous internal injuries and a puncture in his skull. “He is in the unit and is currently in a critical condition,” the intelligence agency’s statement read. Ukrainians call the officer a “war criminal.”

In October 2023, Nagaiko is believed to have led a missile attack by Russian forces using Iskander missiles on the village of Hroza in Kharkiv region. The attack killed 59 civilians, including an eight-year-old boy. Seven more people were injured.
The local governor described the attack as one of the “most brutal crimes” in the region.
Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said in a statement that “just punishment will be meted out for all war crimes committed against the Ukrainian people.”
