A distinctive feature of the Radixact X9 is the Auto Beam Hold, which pauses radiation delivery if the patient moves beyond acceptable limits during treatment, improving both safety and precision.
Sahyadri Hospital has launched Asia's first TomoTherapy Radixact X9 system with revolutionary VitalHold technology.
The advanced radiation therapy system has the potential to revolutionize cancer treatment by providing unparalleled precision and accuracy, especially for tumors that are affected by patient movement, the company said in a press statement on Wednesday.
Already renowned for its versatility, Radixact X9 now adds VitalHold, utilizing deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) technology to stabilize the position of the tumor. This innovation is crucial for treating thoracic cancers such as lung and breast cancer, where precise targeting is essential. The system's real-time adaptation allows for precise delivery of radiation while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue.
Sanjay Hunugundmath, Chief Radiation Oncologist, Sahyadri Hospitals, explained, “Radixact X9 with VitalHold technology sets a new standard in precision cancer treatment. It uses millions of laser points for precise positioning and continuous monitoring, significantly improving the accuracy and efficiency of treatment.”
A standout feature of the Radixact X9 is the automatic beam hold, which pauses radiation delivery if the patient moves beyond acceptable limits during treatment, improving both safety and precision. The system's Clarity Imaging Technology delivers high-resolution images with improved soft-tissue contrast, allowing for more precise tumor location. The helical kVCT imaging method ensures fast, high-resolution image acquisition, reducing the chance of patient movement and image artifacts.
Dr. Shauna Nag, Head, Oncology, Sahyadri Hospitals said, “As only three centres in the world offer the Radixact X9 System with Vital Hold, Sahyadri Hospitals is at the forefront of innovation in cancer care. We are working to incorporate this advanced treatment into insurance packages, making it accessible and affordable.”
Avralali Dalal, Director and CEO, Sahyadri Hospitals, is excited about this new technology: “We are excited to bring this cutting edge system to Pune. Sahyadri Hospitals continues to lead the way in adopting innovative technologies to optimise patient outcomes. Our team has undergone extensive training to make the most of Radixact X9 with VitalHold. We are committed to providing top level care and are working to incorporate this technology into our insurance plans.”
