Celebrities like Benny Blanco and his girlfriend swear by watermelon caprese sandwiches, so here's how to make one at home
Food cravings can be really weird — just ask any pregnant woman you know — and when they hit, sometimes you just have to hold them in. And sandwiches are all the rage on social media. These two reasons have led to a new trend: watermelon sandwiches.

Food influencer Linda (@linder_surprise) may have shared her “latest summer obsession” back in May, but it's becoming popular as many other content creators have jumped on the trend, either recreating Linda's recipe or sharing their own versions of this fruity deliciousness.

The trend took an unexpected turn when songwriter and music producer Benny Blanco also got on board. He made a watermelon sandwich, topped it with pickles, cheese, fresh basil leaves and balsamic vinegar. The trend was further fuelled by a surprise appearance by his girlfriend, singer and actress Selena Gomez, who nervously tried out his bizarre experiment. “I don't think I'm going to like this, but I love watermelon,” Gomez said, and Blanco encouraged her to try it.
