– The law, which introduces the possibility of abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy, “did not pass” by the Sejm during this term, – claims the presidential candidate Simon Holounia. He stated that as a deputy he will not vote in favor of such a project, but as the president, if the Poles decide on this in a national referendum, he will sign it. The leader of Poland-2050 assessed that the two terms of Andrzej Duda's presidency was a wasted opportunity. In his opinion, Duda “tried to become the head of his camp”, but he did it in such a way that “even this camp did not accept him”.
The chairman of Poland 2050, Simon Holownia, met with the residents of Pabianice near Łódź on Friday. Among them, the Marshal of the Sejm was asked whether he, as the president, would sign a law that would allow termination of pregnancy at the woman's request until the end of the 12th week of pregnancy.
Holovnia responded that – in his opinion – there is no real chance of a bill being passed in this Sejm period that would liberalize the abortion law in Poland to the extent he said it would. – Will this parliament accept the 12th week? This parliament will not accept it, and I say this with all responsibility, given what has happened to the laws on women's rights and the legality of termination of pregnancy. I will sign the Decriminalization and Third Way Act, which will go back to what it was before the so-called Constitutional Court ruling. However, it will not be the 12th week of this Sejm, the marshal said.
Holovnia admitted that as a representative he would not vote in favor of the bill that allows abortion before the 12th week of pregnancy, but if the public agrees to it in a referendum, then, as he noted, the president should to sign such a project. – Me too, because the president swears by the Constitution and it is clearly stated there that the referendum is the moment when the society takes power from the hands of the president and other state bodies, – he explained.
In his opinion, with such serious changes in the regulations, a referendum should be held. – I believe that the Polish society is ready for changes, but the political class cannot implement them. He has lost his authority to do this, look at how he does it. It should be a social decision that is strongly supported, he added.

Holuniya for referendum on abortion
Kholovnya also said, among other things, that – if he becomes president, he wants to schedule a referendum at least once a year in consultation with the Senate. In this context, he emphasized that he believes in referendums and direct democracy.
Holouniya stated that if there is a referendum on abortion, the right to decide on this issue will be given to women, who, according to him, are the majority in society. According to the leader of Poland 2050, this is a better solution than the adoption of a resolution in the Sejm, which – according to him – is 29 percent. women
– So, if a vote on the abortion law is held in the Seimas, 71 percent of the decisions will be made by men. Therefore, the referendum is better than the one coming from the Seym, he said.

Holounia: Duda's two terms as president is a missed opportunity
In this meeting, the Marshal of the Seimas also talked about Andrzej Duda's presidency, which will end next year. According to Holouniya, this was a missed opportunity for the president. – President Duda wasted a lot of time, he and we. That's what I always blame him for, Holouniya said.
As he noted, “the president has great opportunities, which are defined in the constitution.” – Look at what Alexander Kwasniewski was able to do during his presidency. He achieved many successes, said the Marshal of the Seimas.
In his opinion, Andrzej Duda made many bad decisions during his presidency. In this context, he mentioned Duda's involvement in – as he said – “deforming” the judiciary by signing the laws drafted by the former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziob.

– Why did he veto the Silesian language act? Before making the decision, I called him myself, we talked for half an hour and asked him not to veto. that this does not harm anyone, in Poland there are people with different languages, cultures, opinions, and they consider themselves citizens of the Republic of Poland. There were many bad things, noted Kholunya.
According to him, Duda “tried to become the head of his camp, but he did it in such a way that even this camp did not accept him.”
Holovnia praised Duda for his response and actions after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, for electing Jacek Siviera to the position of head of the National Security Bureau and for vetoing the so-called recent reform of the education law. Lex Charneck. – There were some good things, but they do not cancel all the bad things that were on the way, – he said.
– This is a weak president, let him finish his term as soon as possible and give way to his successor. I am waiting for August 6, 2025, we have already marked the date of the National Assembly in the parliamentary calendar for the inauguration of the new president, – said the leader of Poland 2050.
