So, with a new season fast approaching, we asked Marianne to share her wish list of items that have caught her eye over the past few weeks, as well as some exclusive looks that she's been wearing in rotation lately. I can't believe we're already in August! Where has summer gone?! The new school year is just around the corner, and I'm pulling out boxes of practical, lightweight knitwear to send off to school early in the morning. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited by the thought. Don't get me wrong, I love summer clothing, but I love transitional season styling even more.
August can be a confusing month to shop, as summer stock blends into the tail end of midseason sales and new fall/winter pieces start to take center stage. That said, shopping this time of year is really, really exciting. August and September are my favorite months for getting dressed. You can wear lightweight layers to get a little more playful with your outfits, and there's that instant sweet spot where you can pair knitwear with sandals.

For me, denim silhouettes are key this coming season. Think strong, sculptural shapes that elevate my favorite outfit of all time: everyday jeans and a t-shirt. Before I buy this time of year, I like to ask myself how I can style the item in the fall and winter. I don't want to splash out a ton of money on a mid-summer piece now because I'll likely not get a chance to wear it until next year, so it's important to consider your current wardrobe and think about how many styles you can create with the pieces you're considering. That way, you'll know what's really worth investing in for the coming seasons.
