A long-time local government official and former member of parliament Sławomir Marchewski (SLD) has died, the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Marshal's Office reported on Monday. The politician was 74 years old.
Slawomir Markzhevski was a member of the Sejm for the second term (1993-97), elected from the list of the Democratic Left Alliance in Kielce district. For twenty years, he actively participated in public life and worked as a consultant in the assembly of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
For 20 years, he was an adviser to the assembly of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
In 1998-2018, Marchevsky was the advisor of the regional council for five consecutive terms, and during this period, among other things, he was the chairman of the health committee of the regional council. He was a candidate for the deputy of the self-government of the voivodeship from the district that includes the poviats of Konetsky, Skarzhsko and Starakhovichi.
Markzhevsky was an internal medicine doctor. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Bialystok Medical University. He was the founder of Konskie's first private health center. His participation in public life and the activities of local executive bodies of state power were appreciated by the state authorities and he was awarded with the “Golden and Silver Cross”.
