One of the participants of the jewelry fair was in a restaurant in Sopot when two men broke into his car and stole jewelry worth one million euros. The findings of the police show that the perpetrators are two citizens of Kosovo. One was arrested in Germany and brought to Poland. The other is still hidden. They face one to 10 years of imprisonment.
In March last year, the international amber fair “Amberif Bahar” was held in the “AmberExpo” hall of Gdansk. On March 25, after the event, one of the participants of the exhibition went to a Sopot restaurant for dinner.
During this time, unknown persons broke the car parked in front of the building. Several hundred rings, necklaces and bracelets (made of gold studded with precious stones, including diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies) were stolen. He estimated the value of the stolen jewelry at one million euros.

The suspects are two citizens of Kosovo
The police working on the case secured the footage from the surveillance cameras and identified and searched many places where the criminals could be hiding. They also provided a number of forensic artifacts that were analyzed. Cooperation was also established with German police and liaison officers, including: from Scandinavia and Albania.

This led to the identification of the suspects. These are citizens of the Republic of Kosovo: 56-year-old Jeton B. and Andrey M.
The Prosecutor's Office has issued a European arrest warrant for them.
One of them was arrested in Germany
“On October 17, 2024, there was a breakthrough in the case. One of the suspects, Andrea M. (50 years old), was arrested in the Federal Republic of Germany. On November 20, 2024, he was handed over to Polish law enforcement authorities, he writes in the release. prosecutor Mariusz Duszynski, spokesman of the Gdansk District Prosecutor's Office.
The suspect was charged as a suspect and interrogated. He pleaded not guilty and exercised his right to remain silent. He will remain in custody until February 14.
“The second suspect, Jeton B., is still wanted on a European Arrest Warrant. The offense charged against the suspects under Article 279, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, is punishable by one to 10 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing,” the prosecutor notes.
