Buildings are on fire in South Korea. There’s someone trapped inside
Many people were trapped in a burning building in Seongnam, South Korea. Firefighters are working at the scene. Forty people were rescued from the building, and 50 were able to escape on their own. It was announced that 12 people suffered minor injuries.
A building fire broke out in South Korea’s Seongnam city, trapping many people, YTN TV reported. The recording she released shows black smoke blanketing the high-rise building and fires breaking out on the lower floors.
The fire broke out in the restaurant’s kitchen on the first floor. The building will house, among other things, shops, sports facilities, a clinic and a parking garage.

41 fire engines and 103 firefighters were called to the scene. Within 30 minutes, the situation was under control and firefighters were able to enter the building and evacuate those trapped inside.
Twelve people suffered minor injuries, mainly due to smoke inhalation. Forty people were rescued from the building, and 50 were able to escape on their own. Rescuers said some people took shelter on the roof of the facility and waited there for help.

Korea JoongAng Ilbo reported that the fire broke out in the afternoon of January 3 local time. The fire brigade is working to extinguish the fire in the basement zone on the 8th floor and the 5th floor.
At approximately 5 p.m. local time, Seongnam city authorities issued a message to residents. People were urged to be careful and not to stay near the fire scene.
Seongnam City has a population of approximately 1 million people and is located in Gyeonggi-do in the northern part of the country.
