Special forces soldiers entered the South Korean National Assembly building in Seoul, the BBC reported. Inside the building, the National Assembly voted to lift martial law, overturning President Yun Seok-Yeol's decision to impose martial law.
Yonhap News reported that soldiers were present on the National Assembly grounds and in the main building of the parliament building. She said the military had set up barricades in front of the building.
He added that three helicopters landed on the parliamentary grounds and witnesses saw armed soldiers disembarking from them.
One lawmaker said there were about 70 opposition representatives inside the building, with the rest outside.

Lee Jae-myung, leader of South Korea's opposition Democratic Party, argued that the president's declaration of martial law violates the constitution.
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the ruling People's Power Party, from which Jun is a member, called the president's declaration of martial law a “mistake” and said he and the people will block the president's decision.
According to Yonhap News, the defense minister instructed the military to remain vigilant.
