Stewart Investors, the Edinburgh-based active long-only equity specialist, has expanded its access to sustainability strategies in Asia Pacific and Japan with a new EU-based variable capital company (VCC) fund.
The strategy seeks to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in a portfolio of 30 to 60 sustainably managed companies across the Asia Pacific region, including Japan.
Managed by Doug Ledingham, the strategy focuses on investing in high-quality companies with diversified cash flows that have the potential to grow in value over the long term.
Investing directly in Japan allows investors to invest in high quality Japanese companies at a much earlier stage in their growth journey in Asia and provides access to a much broader pool of domestic companies with attractive growth opportunities. For investors, these companies are led by strong management teams and are well positioned to contribute to and benefit from sustainable development.
Ledingham said: “Asia is home to a wealth of pioneering entrepreneurs and business leaders driving sustainability on the continent. This latest fund reinforces our commitment to backing high-quality, talented managers with strong financial strength to harness global tailwinds and deliver healthy returns. We have always focused on quality and investing in companies that are aligned with sustainable development.”
Stewart Investors has an investment history dating back to 1988 and has assets under management of over US$19 billion (as of June 30, 2024).
