The attack was attributed to the rapid response force (RSF), one of the parties involved in the Sudan civil war.
The massacre occurred the day after the paramilitary leader, Mohamed Hamdane Dagro, first confirmed that his army had taken control of parts of Khartoum before the army from the capital.
After months of impasse, the Army launched a massive attack in January, allowing it to take over important positions, including the general staff, who had been a force of rapid response from the beginning of the war.
Sudan’s civil war
The conflict between Sudan and the RSF government forces has been taking place since mid-April 2023. Two years ago, they overthrew the Western government, robbed of power, and war broke out as a result of conflict within the alliance.

According to the United Nations and local governments, the conflict has already consumed more than 20,000 lives. It resettled the people and the country’s 14 million residents. American university experts estimate even around 130,000 deaths.
