WILLIAMSPORT — All members of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Surgical Technology Class of 2024 passed the National Certified Surgical Technologist exam on the first try. The group graduated on Aug. 3.
“We are proud of our students' performance on this important qualifying exam,” said Wendy A. Miller, associate dean for the College of Health Sciences. “Their success demonstrates their commitment to their career choice and reflects the quality of the program and the work of the educational team that has worked with these students over the past two years. Most of our graduates have secured job offers before graduating and will thrive in the operating room as skilled technicians.”
Surgical technologists are an integral part of the operating room team and assist in a variety of ways during surgical procedures: they prepare the operating room and equipment, ensure a sterile environment and patient safety, and assist surgeons through various surgical procedures.
The Certified Surgical Technologist exam is administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
