The Reuters news agency reported on Sunday that there is a high possibility of the death of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in a plane crash. The agency cited two Syrian sources in the service. On the night of Saturday to Sunday, when the rebels entered Damascus, one of the planes that took off from the airport disappeared from the radar after a while.
According to Flightradar, the Syrian plane took off from Damascus airport around the same time that the capital was occupied by rebels. At first, the vehicle was flying towards the west coast of Syria, but then it suddenly turned back and flew in the opposite direction for several minutes before finally disappearing from radars.
Reuters stressed that it could not say with certainty who was inside the plane.

Two Syrian security sources said it was highly likely that Assad flew it. It cannot be excluded that he died in a plane crash. The plane “disappeared from radar, probably the transponder was turned off, but I think it's more likely that the plane crashed,” one of the sources said.
