Recent social media posts indicate parents are having trouble getting transportation information from the Milford School District, with many parents commenting that when they check online information, they see no bus transportation assigned, even though no changes have been made to transportation over the summer.
“The Milford School District is currently implementing Infinite Campus, Delaware's new student information system, as part of the first wave,” said Trish Gerken, public information officer for the district. “Any new system comes with challenges, and unfortunately we are experiencing issues with data integration between VEO, Delaware's bus routing system, and Infinite Campus, which is impacting transportation routes.”
Parents, understandably, are outraged at the fact that their children may not be able to take the bus for the first week of school.
“I've been requesting for over a month and still nothing. No response to phone calls, emails or even in person. This is completely ridiculous. I pay school taxes and should not have to request or provide transportation for my kids to get to school just because they can't pack,” Tammy L. Lane posted on social media the day before school started. “I've sent my four children to the Milford School District and have never dealt with the issues they are having in recent years.”
Some parents claimed they were not informed that 11th and 12th grade students would not be bused unless they requested it. Although the information was posted on the school district's website and shared with news outlets, parents said they had not received any information directly from the district.
Gerken explained that parents should use this link to verify their conversion information, and if it's not correct, the district asks them to fill out a form at the link.
“Please do not call the district office at this time as we are currently working through these issues,” Gerken said. “Your student ID can be found on the Infinite Campus portal. Our number one priority is ensuring all students arrive and leave school safely and efficiently and have the best educational experience possible.”
