SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Siouxland is experiencing cooler than normal temperatures for August, but heat warnings are currently in effect for much of the area.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected across Siouxland through Monday, so it's important to know the signs and symptoms of heatstroke.
Officials stress the importance of making sure your fluid intake is keeping up with fluids lost.
Heat stroke is when your body temperature reaches 103 degrees or higher and your skin becomes hot, red, dry, or clammy. You may stop sweating. Other symptoms include a fast and strong pulse, a throbbing headache, dizziness, or loss of consciousness.
It is important to seek medical attention immediately.
Symptoms of heat stroke are characterized by profuse sweating and cool, pale or clammy skin, as well as a rapid and weak pulse and muscle cramps.
If your pet shows signs of heatstroke, move it to a cooler place.
