Iliad Group CEO Thomas Reynaud reported that the company is now ranked among the top five telecoms groups in Europe in terms of combined fixed and mobile subscriber numbers, and praised the company's continued customer gains.
At the end of the first half, Iliad had 40 million mobile subscribers and 10 million fixed-line subscribers across its operations in France, Poland and Italy, with over 1.3 million of these added in the first half alone.
In a statement to coincide with the company's half-year results, Raynaud suggested Iliad could have “up to” 61 million users, including those of Tele2 and Republic of Ireland-based telecoms operator Eir, in which the company holds significant stakes.
The executive described the top five ranking as a “historic milestone” and said the company's five-year strategic plan, “Odyssey 2024,” was “starting to bear fruit.”
“Our next odyssey will be built on continued innovation, investments in 5G and fiber networks, and strengthened cloud and data center activity,” he added.
The company saw user growth in its three direct markets as well as revenue growth.
Group revenues rose 10.3% year-on-year to EUR 4.9 billion, while net profit increased 8.6% to EUR 251 million.
