The controversy over Warsaw's Museum of Modern Art continues. Although it has been open for a few days, the reception has caused divisions not only among residents of the capital.

He argues that it is in contrast to the surrounding environment and the Palace of Culture and Science in the background, but refers to other modern architecture.
However, the architect believes that Defilad Square needs a cosmetic treatment. – I wish I could wash the Palace of Culture and Science. If you look at historical photos, at first it was all white, like the Museum of Modern Art, but now it has dirty shapes and shiny bricks – says Magdalena Milato.

Architect and urban planner Paweł Detko said he could not speak about the architecture as he had not yet seen the inside of the building. – But at the level of urban planning, the construction of this museum is the beginning of a complete revolution in the heart of the capital. ) The Palace of Culture is almost 1 km long and approximately 700 meters in east-west direction. This square is a problem for Warsaw because it is a gap. The distance between buildings in the Soviet Union and the nearest street is several hundred meters, so there is a lot of space to cover. Experts say that the construction of the Museum of Modern Art is an element of what we dreamed of in the 1990s – the restoration of the normal urban structure in Defilad Square.
– A square, street and museum will be built around it, fitting into the larger development line on the west side of the street. Marsawkowska excels in terms of urban planning. The great Defilad Square will be divided, we will find ourselves living in a completely different city, and the rift left by Stalin will be healed there, says Intalia.
The plan envisions a new variety theater to be built next to the black building of the Museum of Modern Art. The two are connected by a forum, a space where cultural life takes place.
“The museum, theater and forum form a coherent whole. The building's simple form contrasts both with the Palace of Culture and Science and with the commercial architecture of the area. And the controversy? After all, art needs them, we hear. “I am happy about them, because thanks to them architecture becomes a topic of discussion,” says the expert.
