The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired 25-year-old forward Cody Glass, a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a sixth-round pick in 2026 from the Nashville Predators, the club announced Tuesday.
Instead, the Penguins traded for 23-year-old centre Jordan Frasca, who spent the majority of the past two seasons with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.
Glass has a $2.5 million salary cap hit and is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Predators in the summer of 2022.
The Predators needed the salary-cap relief the Penguins could provide after signing forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, defenseman Brady Skei and goaltender Scott Wedgewood to deals worth a combined $22 million per year in July free agency.
After acquiring Glass, the Penguins had 23 players on the roster and $1.05 million in cap space, according to puckpedia.com.
Glass’s addition adds youth to the Penguins’ lineup, particularly at bottom-six forward level, which will join recently acquired Blake Lizotte (26) and Anthony Beauvillier (27) in addition to the returning Drew O’Connor (26), Valtteri Puustinen (25), Emil Bemstrom (25) and Jesse Puljujarvi (26).
Glass, a 6-foot-3, 206-pound player who can play center and wing, spent the past three seasons with the Predators.
Glass had a breakout season in 2022-23, appearing in 71 games and recording 14 goals and 21 assists (both career highs), but had a frustrating season last year, playing in just 41 games due to injury.
Glass averaged 13 minutes, 26 seconds of ice time per night despite multiple stints on injured reserve, recording six goals and seven assists.

In 2017, he became the Vegas Golden Knights' first draft pick, with the Winnipeg, Manitoba native selected sixth overall by the team.
Glass spent the next three years in Vegas, playing in 74 games from 2019-2022.
He played in 187 games during his five-year NHL career, scoring 29 goals and recording 42 assists.
He also could be an option on the power play, having skated just over 96 minutes with the Predators last year in numerical advantage situations, per Natural Stat Trick.
