The Pope called for a Christmas ceasefire on all fronts and reiterated his message of peace, hope and reconciliation. Mr. Francis said, among other things: Mozambique, Ukraine, and the Holy Land.
“I'm sorry that I'm not with you in the square, but I feel better,” the pope told the thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square. “We need prevention,” he added. It was obvious that he still had problems with his voice.

At the end of Sunday's Angelus prayer, the pope called for a celebratory ceasefire on all fronts.
“Francis expressed deep concern for all those suffering from war and violence,” vaticannews.va reported. He pointed to Mozambique, which is “engulfed in poverty and violence.” He prayed that “dialogue and the pursuit of the common good, supported by faith and goodwill, will overcome mistrust and discord.”

He also condemned “too many atrocities” inflicted on innocent children during the ongoing conflict.
– Struggled Ukraine continues to suffer attacks on its cities, sometimes destroying schools, hospitals and churches. Silence the gunshots and let the Christmas carols ring out. – he said.
He asked for prayers for a ceasefire in Ukraine, the Middle East and on all other fronts.
“No child can make a mistake.”

From the chapel, Francis blessed a figurine of the Infant Jesus, which was carried by children to St. Peter's Square for a family nativity scene. – I have one too – he added.
