A new report has revealed the real reason why Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Championship at All In London.
In a “Career vs. Title” match in the main event between Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson at AEW All In London, Danielson emerged victorious to win his first world title with the company, securing his future in the ring.
American Dragon is in the process of signing a “handshake deal” after his contract expired in early August, leaving questions about his future with AEW despite winning the company's top prize.
While we wait for proper answers to these questions, there's a new report from Fightful Select that sheds light on the decision to put the AEW World Championship on the line against Danielson at Wembley Stadium.
According to reports, Danielson was actively “against” the idea of winning a championship with the company, with AEW president Tony Khan being adamant that Danielson would one day win gold during his active career.
Ultimately, Danielson granted Khan's wish, resulting in a memorable conclusion to All In London that we all witnessed on Sunday night.
A source Fightful spoke to shortly after All In London claimed Danielson vs. Strickland is planned as the main event of a show “through at least April” this year.
As for why home-grown favourite Will Ospreay wasn't chosen for the role, one source pointed out that the aerial assassin will have plenty of opportunities to star at Wembley Stadium for years to come.
