– The wintering areas have begun forever in Africa. The GPS transmitter shows that the bird has moved north – Dr. Ireneusz Kaługa, head of the ecological group, said in an interview with PAP. He added that the end of February is the time for these birds to begin their journey.
For several years, members of the Siedlce ecosystem group have set up GPS transmitters for, for example, ringing birds. Currently there are 12 storks with Siedlce transmitters. Dr. Kauga estimates that about eight people should say it.
– Suddenly, one day, three storks with transmitters were activated: high speed, Zbysia, Mars. It is clear that they will move north – Kauga said.
The stork returns to Poland. Wintering birds in Africa went on tour
– Quick is a young individual. He stayed in Johannesburg for the past two months, suddenly moving and flying north. He has covered 1350 km over the past 10 days. Only on Monday and Tuesday he made 530 km. That’s a really big distance. He is currently in Zimbabwe, but you can see that it continues – reported the naturalist.
The kauga said the second stork was Zubicia. – As an adult stork, there have already been six moves as the transmitter was established (in the wosice commune). On Tuesday she made 588km and is still intensive. She always spends winters in Chad and South Sudan, and this year she is in Uganda. I don’t know why it flew south so far – he added.

– The third stork, Mars, stayed in Egypt. This year he should fly to Poland and take on breeding – the naturalists said. -The next time and day should show what other storks with transmitters. We are waiting for stork trivito, raisia and other adult birds to fly – he said.
The first stork in Poland at the beginning of March. The fastest one is the healthiest one
Dr. Kauga has booked that the route has very good conditions, but intensive flights have not yet begun. – Our friends in Lebanon have yet to check out the large groups moving. There are only small groups moving north. But don’t forget that from where they travel, there are about 15,000 kilometres from Sudan and Chad to Lebanon. Such a flight should take several days – the naturalists pointed out.

– Also remember that there are storks in South Sudan, where war is underway. There is no information from there. There is no coverage due to the communication route being disrupted. The birds must jump out of this area and arrive in Egypt, from which they must send the exact signal afterwards. Wait a few days – Kaługa pointed out.
The first storks are usually observed in western Poland from the beginning of March. Traditionally, their spring arrival awaits March 19th. We’ll arrive later in the east and north. More experienced individuals and better condition individuals are usually the earliest.
