Residents posed flowers at the school door to cry the eight -year -old student
A teacher fatally stabbed an eight -year -old girl in a primary school in South Korea, in an incident that shocked the nation.
The professor, who is in her forties, admitted to having stabbed the pupil in the central city of Daejeon, said the police.
The daughter was found with wounds by stab on the second floor of a school building at 6:00 p.m. local time (9:00 a.m. GMT) on Monday and was declared dead in the hospital. The teacher was next to her with stab wounds which, according to the police, could be self-inflicted.
The acting president of South Korea, Choi Sang-Mok, ordered an investigation into the case on Tuesday and urged the authorities to “implement the necessary measures to ensure that these incidents are no longer reproduced”.
Some residents laid flowers and a doll stuffed at the school door, which was closed on Tuesday.
The teacher had asked for a six -month leave invoking depression on December 9, but she returned to school only 20 days later after a doctor assessed her as being able to work, said the office of Daejeon’s education.
She had no relationship with the student, the authorities said.
A few days before the stab wounds, the teacher had displayed violent behavior, in particular by putting another teacher in a headache, they said.
Two officials of the Education Office visited the school on Monday, in the morning stabbing, to investigate this altercation.
The student was missing Monday evening after the bus driver informed the school that she had not arrived to be recovered that day.
Police also said that they would continue to question the teacher after she renovated her operation.
After the attack on the colleague, the education office recommended that the teacher be on leave and be physically separated from the other teacher.
She was forced to sit next to the office of the record director so that she could be kept under close supervision.
She also had not taught any lessons since her leave in December and had had no contact with the eight -year -old student, said the manager.
South Korea is a generally safe country with strict firearms. But in recent years, he has faced several high -level crimes, including stabs.
“It hurts me to see such an incident because a school should be our safest space,” said interim president Choi. “I offer my deep condolences to the family of the victim who suffered a great shock and an agony.”
