The Vikings parted ways with 14 players, including 2023 seventh-round draft pick DeWayne McBride and recently signed former Goppers Mohamed Ibrahim and Chuck Filaga, ahead of Tuesday's 3 p.m. roster cut deadline.
Running back Ibrahim and offensive lineman Filaga were signed by the Vikings last week just to ensure they had enough players to get through their preseason finale on Sunday at Philadelphia.
According to ESPN, the Vikings need to move 24 more players by Tuesday afternoon, which is expected to include placing guard Dalton Risner on injured reserve. Risner, who played 11 games at left guard last year, missed most of camp and the preseason with a back injury. Per NFL rules, Risner must miss at least four games on IR before he is eligible to return.
Also released were quarterback Matt Corral, tight end Samis Reyes, cornerback Jaylin Williams, tight end Neal Johnson, receiver Justin Hall, outside linebacker Owen Porter, offensive lineman Doug Nester, offensive lineman Matt Cindric, defensive lineman Tyler Manoah and offensive lineman Spencer Rowland, who is from North Carolina and Apple Valley High School.
All of those players have less than three years of NFL experience. The team also waived the contract of cornerback AJ Green III, who had four years of experience with the team.
Reyes, a Chilean native who became the first Chilean to play in an NFL game for Washington in 2021, was granted an exemption as part of the NFL's international player program. He could return for the regular season on that same exemption.
After the 53-man roster is finalized, players can join the practice squad.
