Jules Lebron, the TikTok star who coined the now-viral phrase “so humble, so caring,” is shocked that someone has trademarked the phrase, which could have cost her millions of dollars. Lebron spoke about it on Saturday in a video titled “When I Couldn't Trademark It Fast enough.”
The phrase “very modest, very caring” has been trending on social media lately, with people making multiple videos using the phrase. She quickly became popular as the phrase trended across various platforms. It is a satirical take on the idea of how people should behave in the workplace and in public.
In the video, which has now been reported, she said: “I wanted this video to provide support for my family and for my own transition, and I feel like I've failed.”
It's worth noting that LeBron identifies as a transgender woman, who has previously said she is considering undergoing gender reassignment surgery and believes the trend could bring in a lot of money to pay for the procedure.
Jules Lebron, the creator who popularized “demure,” says she can't release products because her viral phrase is already trademarked.

TMZ reports that the phrase has been copyrighted by a Washington man named Jefferson Bates, who plans to use the trademark for advertising and marketing purposes, according to court documents.
Other reports have said that Bates previously sought to acquire several trademarks related to the NFL team, the Washington Commanders, and one of his trademarks has reportedly been appealed.
Social media users appeared to support her, stating that they would not buy any merchandise based on the phrase, which does not benefit her in any way. “Sorry but if I buy merch that says 'very modest' and my money does not go directly to Jules then I will not buy it. Jefferson Bates is so disgusting for doing this to her,” one user said.
What is this “very understated, very thoughtful” trend?
This new social media trend has not only spread to TikTok but also to Instagram, where several Indian celebrities have shared photos and videos with captions that are “very humble and very caring.” Jules Lebron describes herself as a “fierce diva.”
In her video, she talked about how she applies makeup and styles her hair to appear “very modest and very thoughtful” while at work.
“You've seen my makeup for work? It's very subtle, and I'm very mindful,” LeBron said in the video. “I don't come to work with green creases in my eyebrows. I don't look like a clown when I go to work. I don't overdo it. I'm very mindful when I'm at work. See how I look so put together? The way I look when I come to an interview is the same way I look when I go to work.”
She continued, “A lot of you girls go to interviews dressed like Marge Simpson and go to work dressed like Patty and Selma. That's not modest. I'm very modest. I'm very attentive. Can you see my shirt? My cheeks are sticking out, my boobs aren't sticking out. Be mindful of why they hired you.”
