Key Facts
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the former president shared screenshots of posts from two right-wing X accounts that featured AI-generated photos of women wearing shirts with the slogan “Swifties For Trump,” mixed in with one real photo of a woman wearing a similar shirt.
The posts also included an AI-generated poster of Swift dressed as Uncle Sam urging fans to vote for Trump, with the former president writing, “I accept.”
Hours later, Trump furthered the idea of rallying support from Swift fans by sharing a video clip of a woman saying that “Swift fans are waking up” in the wake of the terror plot that led to the cancellation of her concert in Austria.
Over the weekend, the former president shared posts on both Truth Social and X suggesting Harris is a communist, including a front-page New York Post article that mocked the vice president's economic policies as “Camnism.”
The day before, the former president shared an AI-generated image on X depicting the vice president addressing a crowd in Chicago, home of the Democratic National Convention, with a hammer and sickle symbol in the background.

Main Background
Swift has yet to publicly endorse any candidate, but she did endorse President Joe Biden in 2020. Earlier this month, a photo shared on Swift's Instagram account briefly sparked speculation that she would endorse Vice President Harris. Some fans claimed it was a silhouette of the vice president. However, this was denied as false, as the woman in the photo was one of Swift's backup dancers on her way back from the stage. Some of Swift's fans have already banded together to form a group called “Swifties for Kamala,” which has garnered more than 40,000 followers on Instagram and 60,000 on X. Last week, the group told The Guardian that just 24 hours after the announcement, more than 5,000 people had signed up for a kickoff call on August 27 on Zoom. In 2019, the singer criticized Trump and his presidency, saying, “We are a democracy. At least, we should be. There's room for difference of opinion, dissent, debate. I think he thinks this is a dictatorship.”
Points to note
There's speculation that either Swift or Beyoncé will perform at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, but there's no confirmation yet, according to CNN. Swift is scheduled to perform at London's Wembley Stadium on Monday and Tuesday.
