The University of Georgia, University of West Georgia and Kennesaw State University were ranked higher than UNG, which in turn was ranked higher than Georgia State University, Columbus State University and Middle Georgia State University.

The university ranked seventh among Georgia public universities on the Best Online Nursing Master's Programs list. UNG ranked eighth among Georgia public universities on U.S. News' list of Best Online Education Master's Programs.
U.S. News compiled its rankings based on engagement, expert opinion, services and technology, faculty qualifications and training, student excellence and peer evaluations.
“We are pleased to receive this accreditation,” said Dr. Chaudron Gilles, vice president and provost for Academic Affairs. “UNG has strategically invested in developing high-quality online degree programs to provide opportunities for working adults and learners who are location-bound or require flexibility in their schedules to achieve their educational and career goals.”
These rankings come shortly after UNG tied for 17th among public regional universities in the South in U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges rankings, released Sept. 18. Among Georgia universities, in the more specialized list of public regional universities in the South, UNG ranked first on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans, first in Least Debt, which measures schools whose students graduated with the least amount of debt, and third on the Best Value Colleges list.
One of the state's largest universities, UNG serves more than 18,000 students across five campuses in Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee counties, as well as online. UNG offers more than 100 programs of study, including certificates, associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
