USA and Iran tied for first place after first day
The first day of competition in the men's freestyle ended Friday morning with Iran and the U.S. team tied for first place in the team standings. Of the first five U.S. athletes to take to the mat, only Nathaniel Askew in the 65 kg class is not competing for a medal.
Iran has qualified for the finals in the 48kg and 80kg weight classes, and one other wrestler (110kg) will compete for the bronze medal. Iran's 55kg wrestler dropped in the rankings, but the 65kg wrestler can still compete for the bronze medal.
