The Umpqua Community Veggie Education Group will begin the next round of its lifestyle and nutrition course on Thursday.
This is a 13-week evidence-based disease prevention and recovery series that has served over 4,000 participants since 2015. Data from previous rounds has shown that health change is not only possible, but likely. Through lifestyle medicine, this course shares simple, safe, affordable and practical ways to lead to health recovery. A new topic is featured each week, covering the leading causes of death in both the United States and Douglas County. These topics include heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other chronic diseases, ways to view and manage stress, mindfulness, incorporating exercise into your daily life and moving more, and practical strategies for lasting happiness. This takes place in a socially supportive atmosphere that fosters connection.
