Forbes magazine has named the University of Iowa and UI Health Care to its 2024 list of the Best Employers by State in the U.S.
The list, released Aug. 20, features 30 employers in the state, with UI Health Care coming in at No. 8 and the University of Iowa at No. 18, according to the release.
“With excellent benefits, a world-renowned reputation and a strong work culture, the University of Iowa is committed to being a great place to work,” said Cheryl Reardon, University of Iowa chief human resources officer and vice president. “Our campus is a great place for employees to grow their careers while enjoying all the resources and amenities our community has to offer.”
Dennis Jamison, the university’s vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine, highlighted the dedication of UI Healthcare employees in advancing world-class clinical care, research and education.
“Our greatest strength is our people. It's our employees who bring our mission to life every day and make UI Health Care a great place to work, receive care and get training,” said Dr. Jamison.
Forbes, in partnership with market research firm Statista, surveyed more than 160,000 employees at companies with 500 or more employees across the US to compile the list.
Participants rated employers based on their likelihood to recommend and their personal experience over the past two years, with the final rankings taking into account data from the past three years and placing more weight on more recent responses.
A total of 1,294 organizations across the U.S. were recognized, spanning sectors including education, healthcare, retail, government services and banking.
