The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained the army’s chief psychiatrist. It turns out that the doctor has become $1 million richer since the war began. For this he bought several houses, apartments and cars. He continuously transferred his property to his wife, daughter, and son.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has detained the country’s military’s chief psychiatrist, who has made more than $1 million since Russia’s full-scale invasion began. The doctor issued a certificate of fitness for military service.

“SBU officials (…) detained the army’s chief psychiatrist, who determines suitability for military service, and vice-chairman of the Central Military Medical Commission. According to the investigation, the official was responsible for over 5 million yen. Concealed ownership of assets valued at “$1 million during the invasion,” the release said on social media.

The doctor did not disclose relevant assets in his tax return and registered it on behalf of his wife, daughter, son and other third parties. As discovered during the investigation, the suspect purchased the following between 2022 and 2024: Two houses in Kiev Oblast and Obhiv district, an apartment in Kiev, an apartment in Odessa, a construction site and several BMW cars.
SBU officials also found 152,000 zlotys during a search of the psychiatrist’s home. Euros in dollars and 34,000 cash.
Chief psychiatrist sentenced to 10 years in prison
Two cases are pending against the detainee: illegal enrichment and falsification of declaration of assets.

It has not yet been decided what precautions will be taken. The issue of asset seizure is also being resolved. If the suspicions are confirmed, the doctor could face up to 10 years in prison.
