Pause live coverage of the Ukraine war.
We'll bring you further updates and analysis tomorrow, but first let's take a look back at some of the key events that happened today.
Russia has launched 236 drones and missiles in a major attack on Ukraine, killing seven people, hitting 15 regions and causing explosions in the capital, Kiev. Ukraine said hypersonic missiles were used in the attack.
Ukrainian authorities have asked their Western allies to provide air defense resources and allow them to use the weapons at long ranges against targets inside Russia.
Jacek Goliszewski, a spokesman for the Polish military's operational command, said one of the drones was believed to have wandered into Polish territory and 100 soldiers were searching for it, in a move NATO called “irresponsible and potentially dangerous”.
The Ukrainian General Staff said “intense fighting” had been taking place around the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, with Russian forces making 38 attempts to storm Ukrainian military positions near a strategic logistics hub.
The Institute for War Studies identified northern Kharkov, Khashiv Yar and western Zaporizhia as frontline areas where Russian forces are likely to redeploy forces to Kursk.
The head of an international nuclear watchdog said he would lead a team to inspect Russia's Kursk nuclear power plant tomorrow as fighting continued in the region.
