In his Christmas message, Charles III said we all experience some form of suffering at some point in our lives. In his speech, the King of Great Britain thanked the doctors and nurses who treated him and the royal family this year, giving his speech a personal touch. The monarch and his daughter-in-law, Duchess Kate, have undergone cancer treatment.
– I would like to express my special and sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses who supported me and other members of my family this year despite the anxiety related to the disease. They brought us the necessary strength, care and comfort, said the king.
“I am also very grateful to all those who have sent us their kind words of sympathy and encouragement,” he said.
Personal tone of the message
As Reuters notes, Charles III set an extremely personal tone for the royal Christmas message, which was traditionally carried over from George V's 1932 radio address.
“We all go through some form of suffering at some point in our lives, whether it's mental or physical,” the king said. His remarks were accompanied by a recording of a visit to a cancer treatment center that took place after he returned to public work in April. In the background of her words, there are also video clips showing one of Kate's first public actions after the treatment.
The recording of the Christmas message was released hours after the ruler greeted supporters during the traditional procession from the royal residence in Sandringham to St Louis. Mary Magdalene. The royal family attended the Christmas ceremony here, reports AP.
The king was accompanied by his eldest son, Prince William, his wife and three children, as well as Charles III's siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. Her second brother, Prince Andrew, was absent and she was relegated to the background due to numerous controversies surrounding her identity.

As reported by Reuters, Charles III is slowly returning to public life after suffering from cancer. Palace sources said last week that the monarch's treatment was progressing well and would continue next year. This spring, Duchess Kate also admitted that she had cancer and was undergoing treatment.

It was the king's third Christmas speech since taking over from Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.
