The US will accelerate work on new nuclear heads. The tactical bullet B61-13 is 24 times more powerful than the bomb used in Hiroshima. Increasing the pace of work can result from “urgent” and “critical” threats, according to American media.
These threats, as the New York Post shows – are related to global tensions. Every day refers to information that scientists will develop new heads.
The latest version of the B61-13 tactical atomic bomb is to enter the full production phase seven months before the initially planned date. Originally, weapons production began in 2026.
Increased work pace stems from a statement released by Sandia National Institute of New Mexico. This is a research center dependent on the US National Nuclear Security Agency.

“In response to critical challenges and urgent needs, the B61-13 program used an innovative program plan, resulting in expected delivery seven months earlier than expected.

As the “NYP” indicates, the B61-13 is to carry a 360 kiloton explosion load. For comparison, the “little boy” bomb dropped in 1945 caused a 15-kiloton explosion in Hiroshima.
The first version of the B61 was developed in 1968. Due to the fear that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would cause conflict across Europe, a development plan for the latest variant was created in 2023.
