Donald Trump has announced that he will start selling “Golden Cards” and settle in the US at a price of $5 million. The US President said the offer will be used among others, and revenues will reduce the fiscal deficit.
As Trump and Trade Minister Howard Lutnick announced, the “golden card” is the equivalent of a “green card” that allows permanent settlement and earns citizenship in the future.

The new program was to replace the EB-5 investment visa, allowing him to obtain a green card after an investment of $1 million and create 10 jobs.

According to Trump’s promise, the “golden card” should be available in two weeks, but it is not clear whether the administration can do it without legislation.
Golden Visa. EU countries too
Similar programs, called Golden Visas or Gold Passports, exist in many countries, including the European Union, but they are controversial. The most common buyers of these visas or passports are rich Chinese and Russians.
In 2018, a journalistic investigation in Hungary showed that some of the beneficiaries of Golden Visas were particularly prominent. Russian foreign intelligence agency Sergei Narisin and other people’s families close to the Kremlin.
