The U.S. team beat Australia 85-64 in the semifinals on Friday, two days after beating Nigeria 88-74 in the quarterfinals. The U.S. is 5-0, having won each game by 13 or more points, with the closest victory coming in a group stage loss to Belgium (87-74).
Friday's game against Australia was a balanced affair, with Team USA shooting 50.0% from the field (6/8, 6/34, 10/8), including 41.2% (17/7) from the 3-point range. They were particularly impressive at the free throw line, making 90.9% (11/10). USA also had a plus-12 rebound differential, which more than made up for their minus-1 turnover differential.
F Breanna Stewart scored a game-high 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting to go with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. G Jackie Young had 14 points and 5 assists, G Kalia Copper had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists and C A'ja Wilson had 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
France needed overtime to beat a pesky Belgium, 81-75, in the semifinals. After beating Canada and Nigeria, 75-54, in their first two group games, France lost to Australia, 79-72, before dominating Germany, 84-71, in the quarterfinals.
Against Belgium, forward Gabby Williams led the team with 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting and was efficient at 7-of-7 free throws. France had four players score in double figures, but shot a terrible 29.9% from the field (23-of-77) and just 22.6% from the 3-point line (7-of-31). That won't cut it against Team USA.

USA vs France Predictions and Forecasts
prediction
America 89, France 71
Money Line
Team USA (-2500) will not miss out on the gold medal. They are too strong. Team France (+1040) does not have as deep a roster as the Americans. Team USA could rotate all five players on the court and still have a better lineup against France because the U.S. has a competitive lineup of WNBA stars and legends of the game.

Preventing the spread
Team USA -15.5 (-118) will be playing on enemy soil in the gold medal match, with the home crowd clearly rooting for France, but that doesn't matter: the crowd isn't hyped, and B-Stew, A'ja and company are too talented and big-name to not get the job done.
France barely escaped Belgium and lost to Australia. The U.S. has been close so far, by 13 and 14 points. It might be a close game in the first half, but the U.S. will pull away in the second half and win handily. If they start scoring three-point wins, it might be 20 or more points.

Over/Under
The over 155.5 (-112) is a good bet. The US team has scored 85 or more points in all five games in Paris. The US has also been pretty solid defensively, holding opponents to 69 or fewer points in two of the five games and allowing 75 or more points in just one game.
France was a bit more effective offensively in the quarterfinals and semifinals, averaging 82.5 points per game, although their game against Belgium went into overtime and their average point total went up a bit. France has allowed 71 or more points in each of their last three games and their average is likely to be even worse against the talented Americans.
