HyperSight expansion to TrueBeam and Edge delivers the most advanced in-room imaging system in Asia PacificHyperSight improves adaptive planning capabilities across the Varian treatment platformHyperSight streamlines workflows and gives clinicians flexibility to personalize care for patients
Varian, a subsidiary of Siemens Healthineers, today announced the release of its HyperSight™ imaging solution for TrueBeam and Edge systems in Asia Pacific (excluding China). The upgrade empowers clinicians with unparalleled image quality and improves their ability to deliver precise, efficient radiation therapy. HyperSight optimizes workflow across Varian's linear accelerator suite, enabling more customized treatment for each patient.
HyperSight acquires high-quality images and provides a wide field of view during patients' routine radiation treatments. This is especially beneficial for the treatment of large cancers. It facilitates precise targeting of tumor volumes, reduces target volume margins, and protects healthy tissue. Directly in the acquired cone-beam CT (CBCT) images, it provides the Hounsfield Unit (HU) precision required for treatment planning, allowing physicians to more accurately calculate changes in the tumor and surrounding organs and tailor treatment more effectively. This potentially eliminates the need for a separate CT scan and avoids extended hospital stays for patients. HyperSight is designed to cover all anatomical sites and has a 50% faster gantry rotation compared to traditional CBCT scans, which take up to 60 seconds. For existing TrueBeam and Edge users, this upgrade seamlessly integrates with your system, reducing motion-related artifacts due to patient movement and minimizing discomfort caused by longer treatment times.
Demand for radiation therapy is growing in Asia Pacific, with clinicians feeling the strain due to increasing patient volumes and limited access to advanced technologies.1 Varian is committed to supporting healthcare providers with its portfolio of innovative radiation therapy solutions, including HyperSight, and is working with regulators to reassess reimbursement models to support optimal patient care.
At the recent ESTRO meets Asia conference, Dr. Sujith Baliga, Associate Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, shared his experience upgrading from HyperSight to TrueBeam: “HyperSight has helped us improve our workflow and increase confidence in our imaging and treatment. Previously, we were limited by the accuracy and speed of our imaging. Now, we have significantly reduced workflow inefficiencies and can focus on improving patient comfort and providing optimal care.”
“We are pleased to introduce HyperSight imaging on our TrueBeam and Edge platforms in the Asia Pacific region, marking a major step forward in advanced radiation therapy,” said Hideaki Mori, president, Varian APJ. “Guided by the evolving needs of radiation therapy based on current clinical trends, this innovation demonstrates our commitment to advancing clinical practice and providing high-quality solutions to cancer patients around the world. Combining advanced imaging with precise treatment delivery empowers clinicians to provide superior care.”
The statements made by Varian customers above are based on results achieved in their own clinical environment. Because there is no “typical” clinical environment and many variables exist, no guarantee can be made that other customers will achieve similar results.
