Pope Francis on Wednesday announced plans to canonize a teenage web designer who recorded miracles online and used his technical skills to maintain a website for a local Catholic organization, NBC News reports.
Vatican. Carlo Acutis becomes the new saint
The Vatican has announced that Carlo Acutis will be canonized during the Jubilee of School Youth, which will be held from April 25th to 27th.
Carlo Acutis was born in London to an Italian family. The teenager was a web designer who died in Italy in 2006 at the age of 15. The boy had leukemia.
Vatican. A new saint will appear. Who is Carlo Acutis?
Dubbed a “divine influencer” and “patron saint of the internet,” Acutis was beatified in 2020 after the church recognized the miracles performed through him. In May, Pope Francis assigned him another position. Although the Church does not reveal the details of these events, healings that cannot be explained from a medical perspective are often hailed as miracles.

The teenager is set to become the church's youngest modern saint.
Pope Francis also announced that new young people will be canonized between July 28 and August 3, when World Youth Day will be held in Rome. Pier Giorgio Frassati, an Italian who became famous for helping those in need, died of polio in the 1920s.
