The new Popemobile has been unveiled at the Vatican. This is a modified version of the luxurious Mercedes G-Class SUV, the vehicle is white and, importantly, electric. – Sten CEO Ola Kallenius said it took hundreds of hours to create a one-of-a-kind car. The price of the car was not disclosed.
On Wednesday, the Vatican presented Pope Francis with a new car to greet pilgrims in St. Peter's Square, according to Reuters.
The new Popemobile is an improved version of the luxurious Mercedes G-Class SUV and features a raised seat for the Pope, which gives him a better view. Importantly, this car is completely electric.

The vehicle is white, the traditional papal color. It has a heated seat and a handle that the church leader can use to maintain balance.
– Sten Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Group, said that every detail was perfect. “It took hundreds of hours of craftsmanship to create a one-of-a-kind car,” he added.

The Holy See has not announced when the new Pope Mobile service will begin. No information is provided regarding vehicle safety. A company representative declined to disclose the price of the vehicle.

As Reuters points out, Francis tends to avoid using bulletproof vehicles and prefers to be as close to people as possible. During his papacy, the Pope also emphasized the importance of environmental issues.
