– In a world in desperate need of light, hope and peace, people are creating difficult situations from which it seems impossible to escape. But the Bible shows us that this is not the case. After the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis renewed his appeal for world peace and the humane treatment of civilians living in endangered areas. He called for “immediate action” from the international community.
“We continue to pray for peace in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Myanmar and Sudan,” the pope said. – He added that the international community must act with determination to ensure that humanitarian law is respected in combat zones.
The Pope lamented that those who suffer most in bombings are those who should not be involved in the conflict at all, including: Children, the elderly, and people fighting illness.

War in Ukraine. “Shut the guns”
A week earlier, the Pope made a similar appeal. In a message broadcast from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica at noon on Christmas Day, the Pope spoke about the situation in Ukraine.
