On Wednesday, the Hungarian prime minister met with Pope Francis at the Vatican. Viktor Orban also met with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Vatican Undersecretary for Relations with States Mirosław Wachowski.

One of the topics was the armed conflict in Ukraine. “During the dialogue, special attention was paid to the war in Ukraine, with a focus on its humanitarian impact and efforts to promote peace,” the Vatican said in a statement.
The two leaders also discussed this year's Hungarian Presidency of the European Union and “the central role of the family and the protection of young generations”. Orbán published photos of the meeting on social media. “The mission of peace continues! We must seize the chance for peace, which is why I visited the Pope,” he wrote.

The Pope presented Orbán with a terracotta bas-relief entitled “Tenderness and Love” and a message for the Day of Peace. Orbán then gave Francis a Hungarian translation of Dominican Henri Didon's book Jesus Christ, published in 1896, and a map of the Holy Land published in 1700.

During the general audience, the Pope expressed his gratitude to the Polish people for their support. – This Sunday, Poland will celebrate the 25th day of prayer and material assistance to the Eastern Church.
