Viktor Orbán flew to Florida to meet with Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, who is working with the next US president. Peter Szijjártó, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained the reasons for the Hungarian Prime Minister's transatlantic visit. As he claimed, this was a “peace mission” related to ending the war in Ukraine.
A report of the meeting was posted on Victor Orban's profile on the X platform, along with photos of Donald Trump, Elon Musk and his son, and from inside the future US president's mansion in Florida. .

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó commented in more detail on Prime Minister Orbán's visit to Florida, stressing that “the forces advocating peace in Ukraine were right to celebrate Donald Trump's victory.”
After his visit to the United States, he said, “at least two more events will be held this week as part of Hungary's peace mission.” Hungarian media reminded Trump that he had several phone calls with Orbán since winning the presidential election.

This is not the only “mission of peace” undertaken by the Hungarian prime minister this year. In July he traveled to Moscow to meet President Vladimir Putin. The European Parliament criticized Prime Minister Orbán's visit, saying he “does not represent the EU” and calling his visit to Russia “a serious violation of the Treaties and the EU's common foreign policy.”
