During his visit to New Delhi, the President of Ukraine gave an interview to the Times of India. In a conversation published on Monday, President Zelenskiy said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the head of a very large country in terms of population, influence and economic potential, so he has no influence on ending the war with Russia. “We can give you,” he emphasized.
He said India, a country with a population of 500 million people, had “huge value” and could “have a real impact” on ending the war.
War in Ukraine. Zelensky has high hopes for India
Zelenskiy has argued that New Delhi has the potential to weaken Russia's economy, including its energy and arms sectors. This in turn could reduce the Russian Federation's capabilities and shorten the duration of the war.
“We spoke to Prime Minister Modi. We have a platform called 'Peace Summit'. I think we can hold the second peace summit in any capital. We cannot hold it in India. “Of course it is possible and the prime minister can do it. Then he can host the summit, but we have to prepare for it,” he said.
“There are proposals from many countries and we are ready to listen to them. These are the positions of India, the European Union, the African continent, Brazil and China,” he said.

Zelenskyy pointed out that the Russians do not care about the human cost. “As you know, they have already suffered about 650,000 casualties,” he said.
Ukraine's president insisted that the war can be ended if everyone comes together: the leadership, the ICC, international law, the United Nations and the G20. In his opinion, the leaders of the world's largest economy can force Putin to stop the bloodshed.
As recalled by the Ukrinform news agency, the first peace summit was held in Switzerland in mid-June, where three points of Volodymyr Zelensky's peace policy were discussed. We are talking about nuclear, food, humanitarian security and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by the Russians to their homeland.
Zelensky-Modi meeting. Earlier, the Indian Prime Minister visited the Kremlin
Zelensky's meeting with Indian government leaders took place in August, just weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
Mr. Modi met with the Russian dictator in early July, the day a Russian missile hit Kyiv's Ohmadyt Children's Hospital. More than 30 people, including children, were killed in the Ukrainian capital.
It should be noted that despite the ongoing war, New Delhi maintains ties with Moscow, purchasing oil and weapons from Putin on preferential terms.
