LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) takes its annual road tour.
On Tuesday, the bus stopped at St. Clare Health Mission in La Crosse.
WAFCC will be visiting five free clinics throughout the week to provide updates and talk about the programs being offered.
At Tuesday's event, St. Clare Health Mission introduced some of its programs, including its mobile clinics. WAFCC also explained the training programs the organization offers and other pop-up clinics it hosts throughout the year.
Jason Larsen, executive director of St. Clare Health Mission, explained why the rally is being held.
“It's a great way to remind people that we have an 88-deep network of free clinics, plus the Wisconsin Association goes out into the state on our behalf and runs a program that benefits all of our free clinics,” Larsen said. “At the end of the day, the impact the Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics has on 100,000 patients across Wisconsin in any given year is truly remarkable.”
WAFCC Business Manager Danine Casper explained how effective this has been in meeting a need.
“In 2023, we served more than 108,000 patients in Wisconsin who would not have otherwise received health care services, with more than 200,000 patient visits through our free and charity clinics,” she said.
In addition to updates and information, attendees were also given a tour of St. Clare Health Mission.
Larsen said WAFCC is in the top three state free clinic networks in the country.
The road tour will next travel to Wausau with a stop at the Wausau Free Clinic.
