The head of the international United Nations agency responsible for nuclear safety said her car was hit by a drone near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. No one was injured in the attack, but the car was severely damaged. Ukraine's president has reacted to the incident by condemning Russia and hoping for a reaction from its allies. “This attack requires a clear and decisive response.”
The drone attack on an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) vehicle occurred on a Russian-controlled road leading to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi announced the incident on social media, noting that no one was injured. Nevertheless, this event was clearly condemned.
War in Ukraine. UN vehicle targeted by drone. Zelensky on Moscow's responsibility
Grossi stressed that strikes against nuclear power plants and their workers during armed conflicts are “even more unacceptable”, but did not name those responsible for the attacks.
This was carried out by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who immediately declared that Moscow was responsible. In his opinion, this is the final proof of Putin's disregard for security, international law and global institutions.
“There's no way the Russians were unaware of their objectives. They knew exactly what they were doing,” he said in his entry, showing the car's trunk lid and rear destroyed. Attached a photo.

At the same time, President Zelenskiy called for a “clear and decisive response” from the IAEA and other international partners. “Silence and inaction only encourage further violations,” he said.

Kremlin is silent about the UN vehicle incident
So far, the Kremlin has not made any comments on the matter, and the Russian National Guard said via the Internet that the Russian military oversees the rotation of IAEA personnel and ensures their safety. There was no mention of the incident.

Russian forensic experts at the scene searched the area for possible unexploded ordnance. As mentioned above, these were the remains of Ukrainian military artillery fire.
The Zaporizhzhia power plant has been under Russian control since March 2022. The plant is home to Russian troops and employees of the Kremlin's state-run company Rosatom, and the reactor remains shut down.
