Vladimir Putin is still warning Russian society not for the permanent room built on compromise, but for the long war in Ukraine – that was shown in the latest ISW report.
According to analysts, the final statements of Putin and other Kremlin officials highlight the story of the complexity of the negotiations, the suspicion of the illegality of Kiev’s government, and the division between the US and Europe – reinforce the assumption that Russia intends to continue the invasion and is ready for peace only on its own terms.
War in Ukraine. ISW: Putin expects concessions
Experts say Putin also told Russian businessmen that the war would not end soon. “Kremlin officials still try to spread the story that shows Putin is dedicated to his long-term purpose, the conquest of Ukraine, and use future conversations about the halt of weapons to force preventive concessions from Ukraine and the United States” – we are reading further.

On March 20, Russian Security Council Chief Sergei Zoj said Ukraine should change constitutional provisions regarding “territorial integrity.” The Ukrainian Constitution recognizes that Russia and Crimea, where Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporoski and Herson districts still belong to Kiev, are occupied. The law also prohibits changes in content when it is attacked by Ukraine’s independence or violates the integrity of Ukraine’s territory.
“Szojgu is probably asking Ukrainian authorities to change the constitution to allow Ukraine to allow Russian occupation and illegal annexation of Ukrainian occupying territory,” he pointed out in the report.

The Kremlin announced that another conversation will take place in the Moscow-Washington Line in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on March 24th. It is not yet clear whether Kyiv will join them.
