A press conference was held in Kiev on Monday with the participation of two Chinese prisoners of war taken east of Ukraine.
The Chinese explained that they had signed a contract to participate in the war on the Russian side and did not contact Chinese national authorities. They both reached the war through mediation and reported the Interfax-ukraina agency that signed a contractual agreement for service in the Russian army.
One prisoner said he wanted to get a job as a Medic and would heal the injured. He added that he lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic, so he decided to find a new source of income. He emphasized that military service has great respect in society in China.

– The government (Beijing) warned that Chinese citizens were being warned against travelling to places where the battle is underway. I wanted to be an emergency medical officer. I was injured and given up – said one of the Chinese prisoners quoted in the truth of Ukraine.
The man added that the Russians hid all the information from China, including the amount of reward. – It’s not worth it. Everything we heard from the Russians was not true – he admitted.
According to prisoners, information about the country is presented in a distorted way as friendly attitudes towards Russia is spreading in China. – Using trust in the Russian Federation, Chinese citizens are attracted to (at the war). I can call it a trap – the former soldier emphasized.

Another prisoner of a prisoner from a rather wealthy family said he went to Russia for tourist purposes. – I didn’t expect me to take part in the war. I knew little about Ukraine – the Chinese said, stipulating that he was the first to refuse to participate in hostilities.
– Our activities in Ukraine have nothing to do with the (China) government. We did this all by our own will alone – he assured us. At a press conference, Chinese citizens repeatedly said they were ready to participate in prisoner interactions several times, calling for a return to their homeland.
The prisoners of prisoners could include two more Chinese citizens in the unit that one of them served, indicating that the second Chinese citizen had served. “They were primarily involved in hard work,” they said. He added that the Russians probably didn’t treat them badly.

Recall: On April 8, Ukrainians captured two Chinese citizens who fought on the Russian side of the Donetsk region. A day later, Ukrainian President Ukwodymilzelansky said that the Ukrainian Intelligence Agency has information on at least 155 Chinese soldiers fighting against Ukraine in the Russian army. In his opinion, authorities in Beijing know that Moscow is recruiting Chinese citizens for the war.
Last week, a spokesman for Beijing’s Foreign Ministry mentioned the words of Ukrainian leader Lin Zian, who called them “irresponsible.” Beijing has never publicly condemned Moscow for a complete invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, over the past three years, these countries have strengthened economic, military and political ties.
