Zelensky about the presence of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region
The press office of Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) reported on Monday that North Korean forces lost at least 30 soldiers killed or wounded in attacks on Saturday and Sunday in Kursk region in western Russia.
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted in his daily message to the citizens that Moscow has begun to recruit a “significant number” of North Korean troops in efforts to evict Ukrainian forces from Russia's Kursk region.
In August 2024, Ukrainian forces entered the Kursk region, bordering Ukraine, to expel part of the Russian forces from there to fight the forces in the eastern regions of Ukraine. To this day they control a number of cities there.
The troops of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea appeared at the front in the Kursk region at the beginning of October and November of this year. By sending troops to Russia, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un supported his ally Vladimir Putin in his aggression against Ukraine.
